"CROUP? Sakit ape tu Dr?"
terpinga-pinga mama dan abah mendengar perkataan baru yang keluar dari Dr Kh*irul dari Klinik Pakar An*ur.
Oh, patutla Aiman taksihat..Mama ingat Aiman dah kene chickenpox sama macam mama.
Alhamdulillah :)
"Dr, boleh ke saya expose dengan Aiman ni sekarang?"
"yes, sure boleh, takpe, biarkan die kuat melawan virus ni dan insyaallah, percaya cakap saya dia takkan kene chickenpox buat masa ni"
MAMA : TERSENYUM PANJANG..alahai, mama rindu nak jaga anak mama, mama rindu nak peluk2 aiman, cium2 aiman..mama rindu semuanyaaaaa..
bile dimasukkan gas, ape lagi menjerit2 la Aiman menangis2 sambil mengalir air mata. alahai, mama tak tahan tengok air mata aiman, tapi mama kene kuat, supaya aiman pun kuat..mama sayang Aiman, mama nak Aiman sihat, jadi Aiman kene tahan skit ye..sabar ye sayang..skit lagi..skit lagi..last2 abah yang peluk Aiman sebab mama tak kuat melawan tolakan Aiman yang tanak dimasukkan gas tu..huhuhu..
Alhamdulillah, Aiman kembali sihat setelah 3-4hari. kesian, suaranya bertukar perlahan dan kecil, dan takboleh menjerit, hilang suara..simpati betul mama tengok..
Mari mama kongsi info apa sebenarnya CROUP ni??
Viral croup; Laryngotracheobronchitis
Croup is breathing difficulty accompanied by a "barking" cough. Croup, which is swelling around the vocal cords, is common in infants and children and can have a variety of causes.
Viral croup is the most common. Other possible causes include bacteria, allergies, and inhaled irritants. Acid reflux from the stomach can trigger croup.
Croup is usually (75% of the time) caused by parainfluenza viruses, but RSV, measles, adenovirus, and influenza can all cause croup.
Symptoms
Croup features a cough that sounds like a seal barking. Most children have what appears to be a mild cold for several days before the barking cough becomes evident. As the cough gets more frequent, the child may have labored breathing or stridor (a harsh, crowing noise made during inspiration).
Croup is typically much worse at night. It often lasts 5 or 6 nights, but the first night or two are usually the most severe. Rarely, croup can last for weeks. Croup that lasts longer than a week or recurs frequently should be discussed with your doctor to determine the cause.

How will I know if my baby has croup?
If your baby has croup, you'll know. The barking cough is easy to recognise. Although it's frightening to hear your baby cough like this, in most cases, it sounds worse than it is.
Other symptoms can include:
Other symptoms can include:
- runny nose;
- sore throat;
- fever – temperature of 38 degrees C or more;
- a loud, high-pitched rasping sound when breathing (this is called stridor).
How can I treat croup?
It’s best to take your baby to the doctor as soon as you can, even if your baby has had it before. The doctor may give your baby a single dose of a steroid, which works by reducing the swelling in her airways. This is perfectly safe for your baby if given in the correct dose.
Your doctor will also advise you to try some treatments at home to relieve your baby’s symptoms and help her feel more comfortable:
A couple of things which won’t help your baby’s croup:
Your doctor will also advise you to try some treatments at home to relieve your baby’s symptoms and help her feel more comfortable:
- Encourage your baby to take extra milk or water to keep her hydrated. For babies who have started solids and children, juice and warm soup may taste especially good if they have lost their appetite for food.
- Give your baby liquid infant paracetamol or ibuprofen if she has a fever or seems in pain. Read the dosage information on the packet, or check with your doctor if you’re unsure how much to give your baby. You may have heard about a link between paracetamol and babies developing wheezing orasthma. Be assured there is no evidence paracetamol causes these problems.
- If your baby is crying and upset, her cough could become worse. So comfort and reassure her with lots of hugs and kisses. Sitting her upright on your lap, or holding her upright over your shoulder may help her to relax, and therefore breathe more easily.
A couple of things which won’t help your baby’s croup:
- Don’t give your baby cough medicines or decongestants, as these won’t help in treating croup.
- Using a humidifier or steam inhalation is unlikely to help your baby. These old-fashioned methods don't help to relieve symptoms. There is also a risk of babies being scalded by steam inhalation. Guidelines now advise doctors not to recommend humidification or steam inhalation as treatment for croup.
Can croup cause any complications?
Very rarely, a severe bout of croup can cause serious breathing difficulties. Take your baby straight to the accident and emergency of your local hospital if she:
Croup can also occasionally lead to bacterial infections of the throat and lungs, such as pneumonia or inflammation of the windpipe (tracheitis). Call your doctor if your baby:
- is struggling to breathe;
- makes a loud, high-pitched rasping sound when breathing (stridor);
- suddenly seems very sleepy or lethargic;
- has a blue tinge to her lips and face;
- appears to have a drawn-in neck and ribcage.
Croup can also occasionally lead to bacterial infections of the throat and lungs, such as pneumonia or inflammation of the windpipe (tracheitis). Call your doctor if your baby:
- looks pale;
- has a rapid heartbeat;
- has a high fever of 39 degrees C or higher;
- has stridor, particularly if she's drooling as well.
Apa-apa pun, syukur Aiman dah sihat sekarang. dah seminggu dah Aiman kembali aktif dan ceria. Mama pun dah seminggu masuk ofis semula setelah 2minggu quarantine. haha, yang betul2 adalah minggu pertama, minggu kedua sudah tidak tahan lagi rindu pada Aiman. tapi masih berjaga2 sebab taksampai hati kalau aiman berjangkit, tapi bila Dr dah bagi kepastian yang Aiman takkan kene chickenpox terus mama stop quarantine hehehe. sehari tak cium Aiman rasa rindu sangat2 tau!! i love u so much dear!! muah!!
